The intermediate exam conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is an important milestone for lakhs of students every year. This exam is like a turning point for their academic career, which prepares their future path. Every year BSEB releases the results of 12th class in the end of March or the first half of April. There one can easily check their result by entering the roll code and roll number.
When you reach the result page, the system asks you for the roll code, roll number and captcha code. After filling the details correctly, your mark sheet is displayed on the screen, which contains subject-wise marks, total marks, division (First, Second, or Third), and pass/fail status. This digital copy should be printed, but the original marksheet will be available from your school only. If there is any mistake in the result – like name, marks, or subject – one must immediately contact the school authority or the BSEB office.
The Bihar Board also declares the toppers list along with the result, which contains the names of the students who have scored the highest in their subjects. These students are also honoured by the board and sometimes get interviewed and media coverage as well. The marks of the toppers motivate other students to work hard in future.
If a student’s result is less than expected or he has failed in one or two subjects, there is no need to worry. Bihar Board gives two important options to students: first – rechecking or scrutiny, in which the copy is checked again; and second – compartment exam, in which students can appear for the paper again and save their year.
If we look at the data of the last few years, the performance of Bihar Board has improved a lot. The pass percentage in 2023 and 2024 was around 82%, which shows that the result of the board is becoming transparent and student-friendly. There is full hope that this trend will continue in 2025 as well.
After the result is declared, many career options open up for the students. Science stream students can go into engineering, medical or research field. Students of Commerce stream choose courses like CA, CS, B.Com, BBA. Whereas for Arts stream, options like BA, journalism, law and civil services are available. This means that there are many ways to move ahead in every stream – you just need to take decisions according to your interest and proper planning.
